DRESS CODE: Please dress your child appropriately for the weather. We will be playing outside everyday. Many of our activities require a “hands-on” approach and we get messy. Please send your child in clothes that are “mess” friendly. Make sure your child has a change of clothes in their backpack. Tennis shoes and rubber boots are the best shoes for your child to wear. NO FLIP FLOPS!
ILLNESSES: Please keep your child home if they are running a fever, experiencing diarrhea, vomiting, severe cough, unusual yellow color to the skin or eyes, skin or eye lesions, rashes, weeping or pus-filled eyes, headache, abnormal breathing or wheezing, complaining of severe pain, or lethargic. If a student presents any of these signs during care a parent/guardian will be called immediately and required to pick up their child. In the event that you cannot be reached I will begin to call the numbers on your “authorized to pick-up” list.
MEDICATIONS: Please label your child’s medication with their name. All medication must be in its original container with dosage information clearly stated. I will keep a record of all medication administered throughout the day on my “Medication Administered” form. This form will be sent home at the end of each day along with the medicine. Every child must have their own sunscreen (SPF 50 nothing lower) which will be kept at LSU for the summer months. Parents are responsible for providing all medications and sunscreen for their child/children.
DAILY REPORTS: Every child will be sent home with a daily report. The “Infant” report will state all diaper changes, feedings, naps, and any additional information. The “Preschool” report will state the topic we focused on, our fun activities, behavior/ emotions throughout the day, nap, and any potty training information.
MEALS: Breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack are included in your tuition. All meals and snacks for the month are sent home with the monthly newsletter. Please inform me of any food allergies your child may have. No outside food or candy is allowed. All meals are served “family” style; which means children eat together, serve themselves, help set and clear the table (age depending) and practice respectful table manners.
INFANT CARE: Parents are responsible for providing diapers, wipes, formula/breast milk, blankets, and baby food. Once an infant is eating solid foods LSU will supply their meals.
NAPPING CHILDREN: Parents are responsible for providing their child with a blanket, pillow, and comfy item for nap time. My nap schedule for toddlers and preschoolers are the same, it will be posted in the playroom. Infants nap on their own schedule. If your child no longer naps they will be given a “quiet” activity while their peers are sleeping.
POTTY TRAINING: I believe potty training should be done with a plan of action that is consistent at home and daycare. We will decide together the systems and schedules that work best for all of us. Your child must have enough underwear/pull-ups for multiple changes throughout the day. A potty training child must be able to pull pants on and off, sit on the toilet without fear, and verbalize potty vocabulary.
OUTINGS: When the weather is nice we will be adventuring to the park, going for walks, and visiting the library. Throughout the year I will also be conducting a few field trips, which parents are more than welcome to attend. Transportation will be discussed when the field trips are planned.
MEDIA: All learning is done through “hands on” activities. Media is limited to singing, dancing, and educational videos. Your child will not be watching tv for entertainment purposes.
GENDER: It is age appropriate for preschool children to become curious about their gender and that of their peers. I believe in two sexes, male and female. When the subject comes up (which it does often) we will discuss this topic in an age appropriate manner using male and female terminology. Any terminology outside of this can be discussed within your own family unit.
